Biography

Taylor Jon Shepard, (born October 16, 1991), better known by the mononym Shepard, is an American hip hop producer DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles, California. Shepard emerged in 2007 with the mixtape Shepard's 3.14159265 when he was 16. The mixtape, which gained some recognition overseas, most notably in Japan, produced the song "Go For It" which is occasionally used as bumper music on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. In spring 2010 Taylor produced the album Simplistic Love for artist L.U.C.K.I. as well as completed work on the Gone Solo mixtape, which featured remixes of several songs by artists such as Mos Def, C.L. Smooth, and Common. On November 22, 2010 Shepard released Chillin' Trospection under the newly formed record label UrbanOut. His first studio album Feriados Brasil will be released in the summer of 2011. His style of production samples jazz music as well as utilizing vocal samples from classic films, speeches from political activists, and original instrumentation. Shepard has noted that his influences include Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, J Dilla, and Kanye West.

Shepard was born in Enfield, England. He is the son of American actors Kelvin and Teri Shepard. He grew up in Canoga Park,in the San Fernando Valley and attended New Roads High School in Santa Monica. Taylor Shepard started playing piano and guitar at age eleven. In high school Shepard began producing instrumental beats as a hobby. He also ran cross country and track making third team all state his junior year.

Taylor Shepard currently attends Syracuse University.
