R Is For Rocket

Like Colin Powell and Animal Crackers R Is For Rocket is a formidable force to be reckoned with.

R Is For Rocket is the latest project from Jason Turner, who also fronts the Ohio-based indie-rock group Exceptional Edward. Since 2006, Turner has written and recorded four albums including Daily Music Vault’s 2008 Indie Album of the Year, Lost at Sea.

In 2009, Turner began working with producers Jeff Anderson, formerly of Gotee Records, and electro pop sensation and founding member of “Fantastic!” Jesse Cale. The result of their collaborative efforts is a unique, electro-inspired album that seamlessly integrates elements of rock, pop, and more noises than a Speak & Spell.

Although Rocket has been justifiably compared to groups like Passion Pit and the Postal Service, the band draws from a number of influences including the Flaming Lips, Empire of the Sun, the Killers, the Arcade Fire, M.I.A. and Paul Oakenfold.

Rocket’s debut EP, Friend or Foe, will be released on Nov. 24, 2009.
