Artist Profile

Name: jakartah
Label: Torque/Victory Records
Location: Vancouver

The Vancouver-based post-hardcore act Jakartah presents a set of urgent indie-rock. Revealing a tendency towards prog-like time changes and heavy riffing, the Canadian trio’s songs are as challenging as they are compelling, as evinced on the dynamic debut release "In The Nervous Lights Of Coincidence" [Torque Records / Victory Records]

Jakartah established themselves with a relentless work ethic originally playing higher profile local shows, recording a 3 song demo and scoring a deal for there debut album after playing 11 shows. Shortly after they recorded there debut album: In The Nervous Lights Of Coincidence with Jesse Karr (The Hive Studios) & mastered by These Arms Are Snakes drummer/engineer wizard Chris Common in Seattle (Red Room Studios).

After constant touring, one of those tours a stint across Canada, they began breaking ground-with rave reviews of there live shows and press coverage in exclaim! magazine and Alternative Press. Jakartah returned home to Vancouver to regroup and create a new a plan. Some band members left and news ones entered. After a brief hiatus the band began writing new material that has far surpassed there debut release. It will be released with a national tour to follow in 2009.
