Anything that is rock “other.” Parts of grunge, indie, and anything a little harder that doesn't fit snugly into metal or radio rock belongs here. Rock that doesn't sound like anything else could comfortably be called alternative, typically the kind of rock that has a smaller budget than a major label could provide.
