Carey Mercer as Blackout Beach Prep Second Album

Publish Date: October 15, 2008 - 12:09am

You will remember Carey Mercer from two of his most visible past projects: Frog Eyes, which Mercer formed with Wolf Parade's Spencer Krug, and Swan Lake, a band which includes Destroyer's Dan Bejar along with Krug and Mercer.

To date, Mercer has been busy with these projects, but has released one solo album under the name Blackout Beach entitled Light Flows the Putrid Dawn. With that record released four years ago, Mercer is now ready for the follow-up, this year's Skin of Evil due out on December 2nd. The album is a purportedly about an individual named Donna, and the songs alternately give her and her past lovers a venue to express themselves. DAn Bejar had much to say about the new record, including this: "I believe Skin of Evil is the best record I will hear this year, but let's not get into that." The album will be released by Soft Abuse records.
