Indie Rock Darlings Arcade Fire Record Soundtrack for The Box
Submitted by musikguru6 on Mon, 12/22/2008 - 23:54.According to Musicradar.com, everyone's favorite indie rockers - The Arcade Fire have recorded the soundtrack for director Richard Kelly's new movie, The Box.
Some of you might remember Richard Kelly from his most famous effort, Donnie Darko.
Said frontman Win Butler in an interview with Pitchfork Media, "It's kind of Hitchcocky, movie, orchestral, Mellotron stuff. It's instrumental music. No songs. It's interesting."
The Box is based on a 1970s episode of The Twilight Zone, and is scheduled to hit theaters in November of 2009.

What I like most about this vid is the short story wrapped around the song – what kid doesn’t at some point believe they can outsmart and outfight a bunch of bumbling adults?
- 4. Portishead - Only You

Submitted by musikguru6 on Tue, 11/25/2008 - 23:05.- 50. The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist
Much like video #36 on this list, Close (to the edit), the appeal of this video is that every different sound in the song (and there are many) gets its own visual.
- 49. The Bravery - An Honest Mistake
Top 66 Music Videos of All Time (That Doesn't Include "Video Killed The Radio Star" or "Thriller") #66-51
Submitted by musikguru6 on Tue, 11/25/2008 - 21:01.I hesitated for a bit when I first decided to compile a list of the top 66 music videos of all time. I knew there were a lot of great music videos out there, but I didn't want to wind up with a list that simply regurgitated other top music video lists out there. That meant no Buggles, and certainly no Michael Jackson. The following might introduce you to a few great videos you've never seen, or remind you why liked some of these songs in the first place. Enjoy.
- 66. Weezer - Buddy Holly
Top 10 UK Imports of the 1990's
Submitted by musikguru6 on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 20:12.The 1990s will always be a nostalgic time for me. It’s the decade when I grew up and discovered the world. Most of all, it’s the decade when I became passionate about music. Looking back now, it’s easy to forget all the great bands that made the jump from the UK to America, and who would go on to influence many of the bands who are part of today’s Indie scene. The following is by no means a comprehensive list – look at it as a jumping off point.
10. The Verve
New Indie Music on the Horizon
Submitted by musikguru6 on Tue, 10/14/2008 - 15:28.10/14 - The Secret Machines – Secret Machines
I haven’t heard anything about The Secret Machines since I was playing their first single as a DJ for WICB back in 2004. The Dallas natives will be following up their sophomore effort, Ten Silver Drops. Ten Silver Drops was the most successful US release for the band, peaking at #159 on the US charts.
10/21 - Electric Six – Flashy
I’ll admit – the most I know about Electric Six is that they used to sing that oddly catchy song “Gay Bar”, and I will forever associate them with the Internet meme, Spongemonkeys. Flashy will be Electric Six’s fifth album since they debuted in 2003.
7 Top Indie Music Videos for 2008
Submitted by musikguru6 on Thu, 10/09/2008 - 23:33.- Port O’ Brien – I Woke Up Today
If your public school education was anything like mine – you spent a lot of time making dioramas. Book reports, science reports, gym class – dioramas were key. Port O’Brien takes their first single, which is about as power pop as I think they’ll ever be – and brings a child’s diorama to life. How cool is that. This is probably my favorite video of the year.
