Submitted by matt on Wed, 10/29/2008 - 17:20.I was examining my playlist the other day and realized how much of it is currently electronica. I've always appreciated this genre of music because of it's driving bass and crazy robot sounds. The one instrument that has really sparked my interest as of late is the talk box, I've considered buying one of these with a small drum machine to do my own experimentation. I'm addicted. I will go into detail about this a little later.
So, what exactly is in my playlist? At the moment, it is currently filled with Daft Punk, The Prodigy, DJ Tiesto, Justice, Aphex Twin, and a few others. If you enjoy listening to any of these artists, leave me one, we can talk remixes.
The talk box is essentially a redesigned effects pedal, similar in the way it modifys the current sound being sent through it like a distortion or wah pedal. The basic design of the talk box is an enclosed, air tight speaker with a plastic tube coming from it. The plastic tubing is used to shape the sound which is already going through the speaker. Here's a prime example of my favorite Daft Punk song, Digital Love.
I want one soooo bad.

check the presets out as well... they were at monolith also:
"are you the one" and "girl and the sea" are also good
beepboopboopboooooop
I tried to recreate Cory's version of Sandstorm in the Subject line there, but to no avail.
Check out Underworld "Rez/Cowgirl" and maybe "Cherry Pie."
You're also obligated to look into Armin Van Buuren.
