The German people take Nazism very seriously; if World War II had the Holocaust were on your national conscience, you would, too. Even displaying a swastika is illegal - punishable by a serious fine or even jail time. So, when Pete was performing in Germany recently he decided, hey, let's start singing the old Nazi national anthem to the crowd. Furthermore, he must have reasoned that despite the immediate chorus of boos, curses and cries to get off the stage, there was no reason to stop singing it until he was physically taken off the stage.
