Playing With Yourself

If you have poor hygiene, limited social skills or both, you can always make your own band. For all two of you that have read my previous blog on The One Man Band, it's not the same thing; I'm not talking about tying bicycle horns to every conceivable (and inappropriate) location of your body to accentuate the entire trap set you're carrying around on your back in the hopes that your frantic lurching around will make something musical enough that passersby will throw change at you thus offsetting the ruinous chiropractic bills you'll inevitably incur.

No, I'm talking about something different. Something even... cooler. After all, as an aspiring musician why slave away becoming a guitar virtuoso if all you have to do is wait for your own damn solo every time (or listen to the drunken roar of "FREEEEEBIIIIIRD!!!" every time you so much as fart)? With just a video camera and enough patience, you can be this guy.

Thanks to my friend and MadeLoud cohort Matt, you've got this rich dose of culture at your fingertips.

Surprise, this guy's a Star Wars fan; to be completely honest, he's got one helluva voice. Try harmonizing with yourself in four different ranges and get back to me. If you're some kind of elitest anti-Star Wars disgrace to humanity, to you I'll say I bet he hates Jar Jar Binks (how's that for going out on a limb?), so at least you have that much in common.

Now just think of the benefits. Band practice is always on time. The annoying girlfriend doesn't show up (unless you've got one) and spew drama, fire hose-like, that just about melts the paint off the walls. Lastly, nobody can catch you picking your nose. Not bad, huh?

ok, yeah that's pretty impressive. i'm happy with myself if I can somewhat keep tune with a song while it's playing - but that guy...wow!
