Seeing Kiss on TV when I was about 2 years old. I asked for a guitar and got one that Christmas!
Subject matter is always evolving. You go through phases as a human, and as a musician you write about them. My songs are about what all rock songs I've always loved are about; love, hate, angst with a touch of humor once in awhile.
I really like just collaborating with my band. There are lots of artists I'd love to meet, like David Bowie! And the members of KISS, of course! But I can't really say I know of anyone I think I'd collaborate well with, but I'm open!
Being constantly compared to other artists in derogatory ways has been the bigest irritant. There aren't enough female rockers who are hard tom boyish rockers, so people assume we're all clones of one another. That and keeping a solid lineup has been challenging. Jobs, families and other things get in the way....
I remember thinking when I was about 14 or 15 years old that I wanted to be the connection for some kid that made them feel less alone on this planet. That's what my music did for me. If I can return that favor to one kid,it'll be worth all the blood, sweat and tears.
