Biography:
Four endowed, skilled, and diverse musicians came together to create, “The Musonics”, a unique sound of 80’s pop and soul with prominent electric tones.
JoRasp and EDL with wicked vocals, Aagee, the maven of production, and JRock who is responsible for mad guitar skillz. The Musonics and originated in the bay area of California early 2009 and has been performing at venues in San Francisco such as Red Devil Lounge, Pier 23, Hotel Utah, and the famous Uptown in Oakland to name a few.
Aaron Griffin aka AaGee, is an Oakland, California native whose natural talent began producing music with guitars, pianos, and a drum machine at the age of 16. He specializes in audio engineering through Pro Midi Interface, crafting the eclectic sounds of, “The Musonics.” One of AaGee’s largest accomplishments was the movie scoring of Ed Laborde Jr’s breakthrough film,”Me &Mrs. Jones.” His passion for music outstanding production abilities, and drive for producing creative and innovative sounds has gained notable recognition through collaborations with artists such as: Dwayne Wiggins of R&B band, “Tony, Toni, Tone”, Keyshia Cole, Too Short, Compound 7 and Hieroglyphics.
Johann Michael aka JoRasp, has a variety of music in his background. Canadian native from Montreal, made his stage debut with the original Canadian cast of musical theater, “Miss Saigon”, Toronto, Stuttgart, Germany. Being a part of the North American Tour he had the opportunity to play the tony award role of the manipulative and desperate pimp, “The Engineer.” After musical theater he settled in Northern California where he stumbled upon AaGee, EDL and JRock creating “The Musonics.” JoRasp’s credits in the music industry also include: an original member of the Canadian R&B band, “KUYA” with his brother Jay and producers, Sammy Blues and Bobby Brass of KUYA Productions Inc. KUYA’s single, “Southern Girl” has been played on FLOW, CHUM and 93.6 FM stations in Toronto, their video has been on heavy rotation on Much Music, MTV2, MTV International VIVA 1 Europe and Musiq Plus, Montreal. KUYA also did work with Dream Warriors, “Float On.” JoRasp, along with KUYA Productions, won a SoCan Award for writing for Canadian artist, Shawn Desmond’s hit single, “Get Ready” which was played throughout Canada as well as Europe and Asia.
Erika Lawrence a.k.a EDL has been immersed in a world of music since her early childhood: mentored and trained initially by her mother, an accomplished guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Erika began studying piano at ten years of age and later, joined the world-renowned “Castleers” High School choir under the direction of Vivian Jones. She has studied piano and music theory with Victoria Theodore, and bass guitar, and speech level singing with Marzuki Grinage. She demonstrates a solid foundation in various genres such as Funk, Soul, Gospel, R and B, Neo-soul, Jazz and Classic rock – to name a few. She also performed with cover band, “Farenhyte/5150” and worked with Compound 7, a production duo with The Musonic’s Aagee and A Plus of Souls of Mischiefs, “Hieroglyphics.”
Jerry Festejo aka JRock, was born and raised in the east bay of Northern California, has been strumming his guitar since the age of 13. He’s played with bands around the San Francisco area such as, “Kleen Kut” and “Ugly Flowers” to name a few. He is well known for playing lead guitar for the band,”L Rey” with the lead singer for “Malo”, Martin Cantu.Mostly self-taught, JRock has also worked with Morris Acevado, guitar instructor and columnist for Guitar magazine.
The Musonics continues to amaze audience of all ages. Tunes that get you up on your feet and music that will resonates in your head. With creative and powerful tracks this band can keep you dancing on your feet and wanting more. Look out for their 2 singles, “Droid and After Dinner Mint” coming spring 2010.
