Ornaith O'Dowd is a DIY songwriter and recording artist from Galway, Ireland and now based in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York. She makes postpunk-tinged indie pop. She began recording in 1995 with the cassette-only album, "Blank Melodies," released under the name The Craving. Under her own name, she returned to recording in 2006 with the E.P. "The Pomegranate Heart." Her latest release is a full-length album, "World of Gutters." In her other life, Ornaith is a PhD student in philosophy at CUNY, the City University of New York.
