I've been a singer my entire life. I am classically trained and competed in Renaissance music and opera. In college, I became fascinated with Sarah McLachlan, No Doubt and Alanis Morissette. I loved the beautiful and powerful female vocals, and I loved the songs. Sarah, Alanis and Gwen all influenced my desire to write. I was singing other people's songs and realized that I, too, had a lot to stay. That is when I started to write myself.
My music is about relationships -- not just with other people but with oneself and the world. My music is a personal discovery. I am sharing my journey through my music, and it's evolving every day as I breathe breath on this earth.
Working with Sarah McLachlan would be a dream come true. I love her passion and depth of emotion. I love how versatile she is with guitar and piano. She chooses her instrumentation carefully, and I'd love to share in her writing process.
It takes dedication to stick with a career as an artist. Unfortunately, music doesn't always pay the bills, and it can be a struggle to balance work with art. To overcome the challenge, I stay true to the music, since it is my primary passion. I aim to make music because it is part of my soul. I find that the less I focus on a monetary reward, the happier I am as an artist.
I want to bring people together through my music. I enjoy building a music community of artists and fans. Chick Singer Night is a great platform for this. I built the showcase in Dallas and now am launching the show in Atlanta.
