G Weaver an architect in Louisville, KY who is also a lyricist/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist.
P Malinoski a painter and sculptor in Hyattsville, MD who is a multi-instrumentalist/composer.
J Baird an electronic musician in Hull, MA who is a technical consultant/composer/disciplinarian.
Having met in school and playing together in the bands, Burundi Ware, Fidel and the Infidels, Alice, Skyline and now Jaspers, these three have embarked on a journey approaching 30 years. It has covered cities, states and spaces from coast to coast and involved instruments and recording technology by the tonnage. There have been countless hours of collaboration over these years in hot and cold studio spaces, most often in the dark and late at night, with any resource available. Here are the earliest pioneers of low budget sound and recording, who for a good amount of time used found or discarded speakers, microphones and amps from university surplus, and obsolete Dictaphones as recording devices. They made their own instruments and bought many more. They taught themselves how to make a tangle of pipes and tubes, keys and knobs, wires and cords; and then take ideas and inspiration, effort and a profound ability to communicate as one to create a unique musical form.
There were never many gigs, never many places to play out, but that really was never the reason for Jaspers music, nor has it ever slowed down the vision or the output. Throughout this long association there have been countless releases of material that are well under the radar, sub-underground. But the evidence is there and can be had, and continues to show itself in the distinctively refined material that Jaspers produces today.
