Catchy and largely commercial, pop music is meant to appeal on a first listen, and to bridge the realms of the dance floor and into the worlds of advertisements and radio. Pop has been utilized by artists of all stripes, though it could be argued that the pop coming out of Japan and Korea presently (J- and K-pop) are a distillation of pop to its purest, most potent elements.
