Described as easily as “electronic music you can dance to,” dance music evolved out of disco and into techno, electro, and a variety of other genres also influenced by the remix culture of hip-hop as well as Jamaican dub. As it grew in popularity and scope, dance music reached notable popularity in clubs worldwide while also spanning a movement of producer-centered, more “listener-friendly” outgrowths.
