As five people from very different musical backgrounds, the ultimate reason we all started making this music was because, in a world of increasingly overproduced songs and artists we all wanted to make some honest and organic, heartfelt music.
Our music, just like so many other artists, is about life and love and loss. Our music has evolved more as composition than lyrical. As we grow together as musicians, we learn how best to play with each other, how to grow with each other and how to make beautiful harmonies together.
We would love to collaborate with Bon Iver. Justin Vernon does often collaborate with other folk artists and every collaboration he is in is better than the last. Bon Iver has influenced all five of us in a positive way and can probably be heard in some of our music. Let's do this Bon Iver!
In the summer of 2011 our lead singer, who had written all but one of our songs, left the band with no notice. We had to decide whether to regroup or to dissolve. We decided to push on and we held auditions for a guitarist. After Josh joined we became a song-writing factory. Then we invited our violist friend Johnell to play with us full-time and we were full steam ahead!
Just like any other independent musician, we want to make enough money to support ourselves as just musicians and quit our day jobs. We also want to go on tour at least once in our lives. Besides those two things, we just want to keep making good, honest music.
